What is Happening/Happened in Afghanistan

There is little that has not been said about the abandonment of Afghanistan. It is currently a tragedy and historically mishandled.

And while blame will surely be passed around to all sides within America, as all sides have had a hand in it, there is little productive that can come from it, except education.

So we hope to at least provide some context to the situation. Perhaps to make more real, or at the very least inform our readers beyond the knowledge from a viral headline. So here are some simple bullet points and where the info comes from.

• 7 People died at the Kabul Airport Monday (2 were filmed falling from a plan, 2 by US forces for suspect activity, and the remainder from accidents in Crowds)

• During May and June there were 2,392 civilian casualties, with 783 killed and 1,609 wounded.

• Afghan civilian casualties since recording started: 47,245.

• American service members killed in Afghanistan through April 2021: 2,448.

• 83 Billion Dollars in Military Investment in Afganistan was lost to the Taliban

• The Taliban Overran the Entire Country in 2 weeks, and currently Controls Afganistan.

• The Spokesperson for the Taliban. Zabihullah Mujahid, has claimed that they will be lenient to those who supported the previous government. But there is little to no history to support these claims
